We had our first ultrasound today and saw that little wiggle worm dancin! She is gonna be just like her mama! I had the technologist, Tatyana from Russia, write down what it was and put it in an envelope. The dude and I had planned to find us a cool spot at which to celebrate the news together. Of course, like all things that require sentiment, I have romantic movie expectations that are seldom fulfilled. Long story short, things did not work out as planned, rain came, crying ensued ( I cry alot these days which I blame entirely on the baby) and we ended up discovering our future over enchiladas, his bloody mary, my iced tea and salsa glorious salsa. All in all; a fairly typical day.
BTW Zilker Botanical Gardens are so lovely when it's drizzling outside.....I wish I'd have taken a snapshot of the view....
It's a girl!!!! OMG! Congratulations! I vote Paloma or Nona or Evangeline or.... I like a lot of them.
ReplyDeletePS it has been my observation as of late, that expectations usually disappoint. If you can, expect nothing but this precious baby girl (hehe a little prego humor) and be surprised at what happens next.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to meet her.
I like Tulluma, Tallulah, Paloma and Nona!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, congratulations! I'm thrilled that someone I know is finally having a girl.
ReplyDeleteAs for names, my favorites are Tulluma and Quinn. What do you and the man like? Nona sounds like a another name for grandma to me. And be careful with Cherokee, Gypsy and the like. I just read an article on CNNMoney.com, "Can Your Name Keep You From Getting Hired?" (link below). Sorry if I'm raining on your parade. Working for Dress for Success I'm naturally tuned in to this stuff. I'm looking out for your little girl's future! I actually like Cherokee, as long as you don't call her "Kee Kee" for short.

Well, it is almost impossible to think of a name without thinking of what other people are going to think of the name and what might happen to your child's self-image when other people decide how to utilize that name. Also, having worked with children for a long time, I think of other children I have known with the same or similar name and that xs a bunch of names. So, on that note, I do like Evangeline, who is also a graphic novel character and the subject of a Matthew Sweet song. Clementine is cute, so is the fruit, but I haven't been to the coffee shop around the corner. There are a lot of adorable names on your list, it is just hard to make a choice. Maybe select your top three and wait until you get to know her for a few days. I don't know, would you still name her Lucille if she is born with red hair? or red hair and you name her Cherokee and everyone calls her Cherry? This is really one of the toughest things to do as a future parent...These are my thoughts which tend to ramble at times, so please read them with that in mind. I know you already do. ok, I had to put this as anonymous because I can't figure any of this out...mom
ReplyDeleteI can't help liking Tallulah...
ReplyDeleteEvangeline is nice and I like Quinn a lot!
Once I wanted to change my name to Finn
but what does that mean?
Who's the girl in To Kill A Mockingbird?
Scout. Robin. Fred.
Lilas, Lila, Gina
How bout some variant of Paloma...? Isn't there another Picasso family name similar to that?
Paloma is comforting to say. It's balanced
Claude is a name I always liked but I don't know what it would be like living with it...it just seems strong and kind.
I considered Olivia and Evelyn. Lauren is pretty, maybe too common.
Daphne and Penelope amuse me and somehow to me are the same name. I love writing them.
Depth, Serenity.
Francesca sounds like Fresca.
Melanie
Eris is a god of chaos, i guess.
There are no girls named Erica anymore. That's fine. I didn't really care for her anyway.
No one should be named Eloise.
Oh god, some poor Amer-African girl or 2/4 USMexican girl is named Vanity somewhere. How appalling.
Alice. eck.
Lisette. It's too diminutive.
Buckminster. That's pretty good...very few girls with that name. Bimminey. That would be the nickname.
Nichnaime, that's not kind.
Rachael yes
Ray-Anne no
Congratulations!
